Lots of people want to participate in a worthy cause, but when it comes to bass fishing, sometimes logistics and especially, quagga mussel inspections interfere. Therefore, it’s good to send out announcements now that there will be a Wounded Warriors angling event at Lake Castaic on April 22.

Ray Layerly and John Barron of the Top Stick Tour are hosting the event, and they are recruiting boat owners and donors to help put the military veterans on the water. Previously (and maybe yet again) Wounded Warriour events have been held in the IE at Vail Lake. But Lake Castaic is an excellent choice–so close to a huge population center.

But if you’re going to volunteer, you will have to take steps to make sure your boat will be allowed on the water if you travel from Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino or San Diego counties.

Says Ray, “John and I as well as the Top Stick Tour Staff are very excited to be holding this event. We will be asking for Volunteers as well as donations. We will have donation letters for all who wish to donate product. We will not only be taking these brave soldiers out fishing but we will also be hosting there families for lunch when all the heroes come in from a day on the water.”

Obviously, the vets have made many sacrifices in behalf of the nation. Perhaps a few lesser sacrifices, of time, goods or fishing trips to local waters, can be laid for this April 22nd event. If you can donate goods or bring a boat, let Ray know as soon as possible at rayl2009@live.com.  It will be a satisfying effort for all.
